The Other Side of Dr. Xeno's Brain

It's me, Dr. Xeno. Here are lecture notes and ideas for my work teaching physical and cognitive development across the lifespan (HDEV 3101) at the Department of Human Development at CSU, East Bay. This content is often referred to as mind-brain, mind body connection, brain and behavior; but it is really about the knowledge derived from the related fields of neurology, neuropsychology, neuroscience and cognitive science. Sometimes I just write about my kids or bike racing. Feel free to comment!

Long Ago...

... Jan. 2006, Was my official return to road racing at ye ol' Early Bird RR. Thanks to the folks at EMC/Vellum, I had a lot of fun even with my early exit due to illness in late May. Pictured above is the 'other' Ras on our squad (Krag), centered in this grupetto of 35+ 4/5 as the road starts to head up. I look forward to 2007 with more structured training and heightened sensitivy to my health and recovery needs. Also hope to race more with Krag since his season was also cut short with a new baby and new job.

you never think that EB RR is going to be hard ... and then when you're legs are leathered jerky and you can barely pedal back to the cars from the finish ... we think otherwise.

great race, though. I love that thing.

That mid-race climb is imprinted in pain colored ink on my brain. If I find some climbing ability b/w now & late Jan 2008, I'll be back. If Krag goes, I'm there no matter waht.

Whee! That was a fun race. Chris Phipps began his meteoric rise to Cat. 2 by dominating the 4/5 race. Looking forward to January.

Yeah, how 'bout it, we EMCers felt stung by that early move, but turned out he's a real stud and we were helpless against the Phippster!
